Environmental Stewardship

Safe, reliable, affordable, and responsible power through a diverse energy mix and a commitment to net zero by 2050.

Net Zero

by 2050

ODEC was one of the first generation and transmission cooperatives in the country to set a carbon reduction goal. In 2021, we announced our commitment to achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.

Reporting

Responsibility Report

ODEC publishes a combined Responsibility Report (formerly separate Year in Review and Sustainability Report) containing information on members, community, and environmental initiatives. The report provides stakeholders with a transparent view of ODEC's sustainability progress.

The 2024 Responsibility Report covers ODEC's environmental commitments, community programs, and member services. Previous sustainability reports dating back to 2017 remain available for reference.

Initiatives

Driving Sustainable Change

Our environmental stewardship extends across renewable energy, energy efficiency, and community investment.

Renewable Energy Portfolio

260+ MW of wind and solar projects with an additional 800 MW in the development pipeline through the New ERA federal funding application.

Energy Efficiency Programs

Smart thermostat, EV charging, manufactured home, and marketplace programs that reduce demand and lower consumer costs.

Community Partnerships

Microsoft-supported grants for energy efficiency training, $100,000 pledge to Bennett's Village, and ongoing community investments.

$516.8M

USDA New ERA Application

Accelerating Clean Energy Development

ODEC applied for federal funding to support 31 solar, wind, battery, and clean energy projects providing nearly 800 MW of generation capacity and storage, further accelerating our transition to a cleaner energy future.

“Environmental stewardship is a critical component of ODEC's mission to provide members and communities with safe, reliable, affordable, and responsible power.”
