Energy Programs
Innovative programs that reduce energy demand, improve efficiency, and save money for our member cooperative consumers.
Our Approach
ODEC is actively pursuing ways to achieve a measurable reduction in energy demand and improve its overall energy efficiency. Our programs cover thermostats, electric vehicles, manufactured homes, weatherization, and more, all available through our member cooperatives.
Programs
Available Through Your Local Cooperative
Each program is designed to benefit both individual consumers and the broader grid, reducing peak demand while saving money.
Smart Thermostat Program
Participants help manage higher energy demand by allowing specific, short-term adjustments to HVAC systems via Wi-Fi thermostats. This voluntary program helps reduce peak demand while maintaining comfort.
Key Benefits
- Helps manage peak energy demand
- Short-term, voluntary HVAC adjustments
- Contributes to grid stability
- Available through member cooperatives
EV Managed Charging Program
Members with electric vehicles help the grid by charging overnight and avoiding peak demand periods. The cooperative can momentarily pause charging only on peak-demand days when the energy grid is strained.
Key Benefits
- Overnight charging optimization
- Momentary pause only during peak demand
- Supports growing EV adoption
- Available through Delaware Electric and others
Manufactured Home Program
Provides energy-saving upgrades at no cost to the homeowner through three upgrade tiers based on audit results, from air sealing and duct work to heat pump installations.
Key Benefits
- No-cost energy upgrades for homeowners
- Air sealing, duct sealing, and HVAC tune-ups
